Make your diabetic neuropathy worse fast!

Sick and tired of having feet that don’t hurt? Want to increase your neuropathy pain to the point where you can’t walk?

Here’s 3 foods that will help you tear apart your small fibre nerves with skyrocketing blood sugar.

1. Bagels.

Yep, those delightfully round sesame seed covered all dressed bagels. These little guys fit into the group “breads and cereals.” This group of foods is composed of processed grain.

When they process grain they remove most of the fibre, leaving behind just plain old carbohydrate. So if all of these carbohydrate loaded foods are bad for diabetes and its side effects (like neuropathy) why pick on bagels?

Well, these dense little fellas contain the same amount of carbohydrate as 4-6 bowls of cereal, or six slices of bread, all in one convenient package. Disastrous for blood sugar levels.

If we want my son’s blood sugar to hit the 20’s in mmol/l (that’s 360mg/dl) he just has to eat a bagel. He’s a type 1 diabetic, and even if he gets his insulin 15 minutes before eating, you can watch it skyrocket.

2. Fruit juice.

I know, I know. They tell us it’s super healthy to start your day with a glass of orange juice. But any home juicer will tell you that 8oz glass of orange juice takes 5 oranges to make.

I dare you to sit down and eat 5 oranges in  three minutes. And then have eggs, and pancakes with syrup right after.

Yesirree – it’s a great way to overload your body with carbohydrate

3. Blizzards.

Okay, a lot of ice cream treats and desserts could be on this list of three foods that make neuropathy worse – but this one takes the cake… er ice cream.

Let’s say you’re in the mood for a sweet treat, and you decide on a medium cookie dough blizzard. Delicious!

That little snack has 1020 calories, and 148g of carbohydrates. Half a day’s calories and three days’ worth of carbohydrates. That’ll make diabetic neuropathy worse for sure!

Nobody’s pancreas should have to deal with that.

Or you could NOT make your diabetic neuropathy worse.

So what do you do if you have a sweet tooth, but want to keep your nerves alive? It’s 100% possible.  I had a chocolate mug cake with cream last night before bed, that was delicious, and had 5g net carbs. It filled me up, with 143g less carbohydrate than that blizzard. I’ll put the recipe below.

It’s what I teach at neurowellness. How to build a healing foundation, and then restore your nerves to health. Without drugs or surgery.

1 oz unsweetened baking chocolate

2 tbsp lakanto sweetener (erythritol monk fruit blend) https://amzn.to/2ODh3eg

1/2 tsp baking powder

2 tbsp Almond flour https://amzn.to/3eoAi63

1 tsp bakers chocolate powder

Pinch of salt

1 large egg

1/4 tsp vanilla extract

1 tbsp whipping cream

Put unsweetened bakers chocolate and butter into a large mug, and melt for 30 seconds in microwave.

Add Almond Flour,  Lakanto sweetener,  baking powder, a pinch of salt and baker’s cocoa. Stir until you have a thick batter. Add egg, and vanilla and stir until mixed well – you will have a smooth batter. Microwave for 50-60 seconds (don’t overcook or the cake will be dry. The cake will puff up a lot while cooking, do not be alarmed) Top with cream and enjoy!
