Marvelous Mitochondria

One of my professors once told me, “It’s all about the mitochondria dummy!”

It’s true. Mitochondria are a fantastic organelle inside the cells of your body. They are the energy producers allowing the cells to function normally with plenty of energy.

When your nerve cells function properly, the mitochondria produce plenty of energy from ample blood flow and nutrients that your body supplies. This allows them to fire correctly and send the appropriate information to your brain.

Everything feels normal. Your feet can sense floor the floor and don’t burn and burn or tingle.

But when blood flow starts to slow, the nutrients slow down as well. As a result, the mitochondria can’t produce the energy your nerve cells need. This leads to malfunctions since the nerves don’t have the energy to fire normally.

Type two diabetes

Advancing type 2 diabetes causes loss of blood flow, especially to the areas farthest from the heart (Toes, feet, fingers and hands)

To add insult to injury, the loss of blood flow causes waste products and advanced glycation end products to build up in the nerves. Add toxic drugs or damaging high blood glucose levels, and you have a recipe for disaster.

As the mitochondria stop producing energy, the nerves begin to send abnormal signals that confuse the brain. Strange sensations like a “walking on bubble wrap” feeling, numbness, tingling, burning, and even shooting shocks fire from these unhappy nerves. Cold feet feel hot; hot feet feel cold.

Balance – especially in the dark begins to worsen.

Drugs is the answer. Now what’s the question?

And the mainstream answer to the problem? Drugs. Drugs that further block the strange sensations to make things “feel” better.

It’s a bit like treating an infection in your leg with Tylenol. It will reduce the pain and lower your fever – but the infection will still be raging. So it’s not a solution – it just makes things feel a bit better while your leg gets sicker.

This is the reason that neuropathy is progressive – the causes aren’t being addressed.

Fixing your mitochondria.

What your mitochondria need is a flood of oxygen, nutrients, and the elimination of toxins and toxic drugs. They need balanced blood sugar. (Coincidentally, the exact things I help you do here.)

Making these changes allows them to start cranking out energy into the nerve cells again.  Energy your nerves use for healing and to begin sending the correct signals to the brain.

It’s really not rocket science – there is much you can do to help your mitochondria (and your nerves).

You. Can. Heal.
