Alpha what?

What on earth is that, and why should I spend my hard-earned cash on it?

Well, first of all, we need to understand despite what you may have heard, Alpha-Lipoic Acid (ALA) is not a treatment for neuropathy, diabetes, heart disease or pimples.

ALA helps your body produce energy from glucose, among other uses.

There are a few ways that your body produces energy. For example, it can burn fat or glucose or turn protein into glucose to burn.

There are two ways to burn glucose. First, there’s aerobic respiration, which leaves water and CO2. Alternatively, there’s anaerobic respiration that leaves behind waste products like lactic acid (the stuff that makes your muscles sore after you work them very hard.)

ALA is an essential cofactor in at least five enzyme systems in your body, including two in the Kreb’s cycle – a necessary part of the aerobic energy path.

Putting Alpha-Lipoic Acid simply

In simple terms, it is an essential compound that helps our cells produce energy from glucose. Without it, the cells switch to anaerobic energy production leaving behind lactic acid.

If you lack Alpha-Lipoic Acid, your body won’t burn sugar as efficiently and create more lactic acid.

Lactic acid is also problematic for causing “neurological symptoms” like neuropathy.

It’s a wise addition to any type 2 diabetes regimen simply because you want an ample supply to burn glucose and protect nerves. It’s also why some people see a fantastic improvement when taking it.

If you have been very deficient, it will undoubtedly contribute to poor glucose levels and nerve damage. Adding more ALA in these cases can make a huge difference.

If there is a minor deficiency, the results will be less dramatic. But it’s still wise to correct the problem to allow your body to work as efficiently as possible.

Just do this

It’s found in foods like red meat, and spinach, but to rapidly increase levels a quality ALA supplement is an essential addition for any diabetic and diabetic neuropathy sufferer. But I’m not going to blow sunshine up your skirt and tell you it’s the solution to all your problems. It is just one element of a system that heals neuropathy.

So when you take it, do so knowing it’s only part of the solution, not the whole answer.

To expect it to fix everything is a bit like expecting to make a delicious chocolate cake with only baking soda. You need to put all the ingredients in, mix it, and bake it properly before you have a cake. Just throwing a tsp of baking soda in the bowl isn’t going to cut it.

But luckily, there’s a recipe for healing.

Yes.

You. Can. Heal.
